Parish Projects & Repairs

Our Parish Projects & Repairs

Welcome to our Parish Projects & Repairs page. Here you’ll find updates on the maintenance and improvement projects that help preserve and enhance our church campus. Our Church was dedicated on June 28, 1992, and the Education Center was dedicated on September 21, 2014. As we continue to grow and serve our parish community, we remain committed to being good stewards of the beautiful facilities entrusted to us. This page offers transparency about upcoming and ongoing projects, including costs, funding progress, and timelines. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

2025 Capital Repairs Projects

Money raised through the Capital Repairs & Improvement Fund is applied directly to major projects—replacing aging mechanical and HVAC systems, repairing or reroofing as needed, restoring structural damage, and other essential long-term building upgrades—so that our parish facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming.

Parking Lot Resurfacing Project

Our parking lot is in need of maintenance to keep it safe and welcoming for all who visit. This summer of 2025, we plan to seal coat, crack-fill, and restripe the entire lot at an estimated cost of $35,000. Funding will come from our Capital Repairs & Improvement Fund, supplemented by Father Gould’s generous $1,000 gift and an $8,000 match from the Knights of Columbus. These contributions bring us significantly closer to our goal, ensuring a smooth, durable surface for vehicles and pedestrians alike.

Lower Sacristy Window Replacement

The original wood windows in our lower sacristy have developed significant rot over the years, leading to drafts, moisture intrusion, and reduced energy efficiency. We estimate the total cost for replacing these windows with modern, low-maintenance vinyl units to be between $3,700 and $5,000. Installing vinyl windows will not only restore the integrity of the sacristy but also provide improved insulation and longevity with minimal upkeep.

HVAC Unit 1

The LG HVAC system serving the south-side classrooms on both the first and second floors has suffered a catastrophic compressor and control‐board failure, resulting in a total loss of cooling capacity. After a detailed assessment, our contractor has quoted $11,000 to replace the necessary components and complete all labor. Until this repair is approved and carried out, those classrooms will remain without air conditioning, compromising comfort and focus during our educational programs.

Humidity Controller & Fans

The humidity control module on our main church HVAC unit has failed—compromising our ability to regulate moisture levels throughout the sanctuary—and two fan motors are also non-operational, further reducing airflow.

We placed our order for the replacement humidity controller parts in early May, and those components are now awaiting installation alongside the new fan motors.

The combined cost for parts and labor to restore proper humidity control and fan operation is estimated at $6,500. Until this work is completed, the sanctuary may experience uncomfortable humidity swings and diminished air circulation, which could impact both congregant comfort and the long-term preservation of our interior finishes.

Fire Alarm System Upgrade (81K Raised)

Our church’s fire alarm system is vital for safeguarding our parish community and facilities. As of June 2025, the Diocese has given formal approval to proceed, and our plans are now under review by the Loudoun County permit department. Thanks to the generosity of our parishioners, we have raised $81,000 toward this critical upgrade, and a generous matching gift of $35,000 has fully funded the project. We look forward to completing installation of the new, code-compliant system soon, ensuring the highest level of protection for everyone who worships, works, and gathers here.

FULLY FUNDED THANK YOU!

2025 Parish Essentials Wish List

Money raised through the Capital Repairs & Improvement Fund is applied directly to major projects—replacing aging mechanical and HVAC systems, repairing or reroofing as needed, restoring structural damage, and other essential long-term building upgrades—so that our parish facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming.

Knights’ Hall Freezer Replacement

This spring, our original commercial double-door freezer in Knights Hall reached the end of its service life and can no longer keep up with our food-storage needs for parish events. Replacing it is a top priority on our projects wish list to ensure we have reliable, temperature-controlled storage for receptions, fundraisers, and community gatherings. We are currently gathering quotes and expect a replacement cost estimate soon. If you’d like to help us secure a new freezer, your support would be greatly appreciated.

Our Lady of Victory Stage

Our Lady of Victory Hall has long been the heart of our parish’s community life—hosting spirited talent shows, special performances, guest speakers and parish celebrations. Yet without a proper staging solution, each event requires cumbersome, jury-rigged setups that consume valuable volunteer time, compromise sight‐lines and limit the creative possibilities for both performers and organizers. A lightweight, modular portable stage would transform our hall into a truly versatile performance space: easy to assemble, safe to use, and fully adaptable to any layout or audience size.

Investing in a portable stage means more than just improved functionality—it’s an investment in parish engagement and dignity of presentation. Performers, whether students in our youth choir, families in drama presentations, or visiting musicians, will feel supported by a professional platform that highlights their gifts. Volunteers will spend less time wrestling with rental equipment and more time cultivating fellowship. By securing a durable, easy-to-store portable stage, we ensure every event in Our Lady of Victory Hall is as welcoming and inspiring as our community deserves.

Replace Broken Tables

Our Lady of Victory Hall serves as a gathering place for parish breakfasts, fellowship dinners, parish meetings and family celebrations alike—and at the heart of every gathering are our tables. Over the years, many of our folding banquet tables have suffered cracked tops, unstable legs, and broken latches, making set-up a chore and creating an uneven, unsafe surface for our guests. Replacing these aging tables with new, high-quality folding models will not only ensure every meal and meeting is comfortable and secure, but it will also free our volunteers from wrestling with damaged equipment. Durable, easy-to-store tables will help us host events more efficiently, present our hall with the dignity it deserves, and foster the welcoming atmosphere that defines our parish community.

Special Projects

Playground Project (45K Raised as of June 2025)

Our parish playground will provide a safe, welcoming space where our youngest members can grow in friendship, faith, and fun. We plan to complete the entire playground for $150,000, building in manageable phases to ensure careful planning and quality. The first phase—a versatile climber structure—will cost approximately $50,000 and is slated for installation by Fall 2025. To date, we have raised $45,000 toward this initial phase, leaving just $5,000 to fully fund the climber.  Future Capital Improvement Projects

Multi V System Replacement (Estimate Phase)

Since installation, the LG Multi V ver 3 HVAC systems in our Education Center have consistently struggled with cooling inefficiencies and frequent breakdowns.

Despite several major repairs and mounting maintenance costs, these units continue to underperform and strain our operations. To resolve these ongoing issues, we plan to replace them with a new commercial-grade system that includes a 10-year manufacturer-backed parts warranty—ensuring long-term reliability and maintenance stability.

Additionally, the new system will feature centralized building management capabilities, allowing remote monitoring, scheduling, and optimized energy control—all proven to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance occupant comfort in educational settings .

Front Entry Doors and Surrounding (Estimate Phase)

Most of our current front entry doors are inoperable, with broken locking mechanisms that have been repeatedly repaired—leaving the church unsecured and hindering everyday access.

We propose replacing them with commercial-grade glass entry doors, combining the durability and security of commercial locking systems—engineered to withstand heavy use and resist forced entry —with large tempered glass panels that admit natural light into the narthex. Tempered glass, being 4–5 times stronger than regular glass and designed to shatter into harmless granules, also enhances safety and complies with building codes.

This upgrade will not only restore reliable security but also create a brighter, more welcoming entrance that aligns with our parish’s mission of openness and hospitality.

Rotted Wood, Trim & Windows (Estimate Phase)

Over time, the exterior windows and the lower trim pieces linking the narthex and main church to the office wing have succumbed to moisture damage and age.

Many of the window frames show visible wood rot, and the trim beneath the windows has deteriorated to the point of crumbling or falling away.

This decay not only detracts from the building’s appearance but also allows water infiltration and heat loss, making prompt repair or replacement essential.

Damaged Railing Repair

The wrought-iron railing is in need of repair to ensure it remains safe for use and to restore its appearance. Over time, wear and missing components have compromised its structural integrity and detracted from its original elegance; addressing these issues promptly will protect parishioners and uphold the welcoming character of our facility.
